Pengertian Future Perfect Tense

Future perfect tense adalah bentuk tense yang mengungkapkan peristiwa yang akan sudah selesai dilakukan pada suatu waktu di masa yang akan datang.

Ciri dari tense ini adalah will have + past participle (verb 3). Contoh:

I will have read three books by the end of this month.

Yang berarti: saya akan sudah membaca tiga buku pada akhir bulan ini.

Penggunaan Future Perfect Tense

Kita menggunakan future perfect tense, ketika suatu peristiwa akan sudah selesai dilakukan pada suatu waktu di masa yang akan datang.

Peristiwa/kejadian tersebut akan sudah selesai: 1) pada waktu tertentu, atau 2) sebelum waktu tertentu atau 3) sebelum kejadian lain terjadi di masa yang akan datang. Contoh:

1. On Monday, I will have been in Jakarta. (Hari Senin, saya akan sudah berada di Jakarta.)
2. The concert will have finished by midnight. (Konser itu akan sudah berakhir sebelum tengah malam.)
3. We will have eaten by the time she returns. (Kita akan sudah selesai makan saat dia kembali.)

Rumus dan Contoh Kalimat Future Perfect Tense

Semua subject, baik singular atau plural, menggunakan pola yang sama.

Kalimat positif (+)

Subject + will have + past participle (verb 3) + (object) Verb: to write
I will have written
You will have written
We will have written
They will have written
He/She/It will have written

Catatan: Will bisa disingkat menjadi ‘ll, sehingga: I will have written menjadi I‘ll have written.

Contoh Kalimat positif:

• By 10 o’clock, I will have written two pages.
• At 4 o’clock, he will have finished playing football.
• We will have walked three kilometers by the time she arrives.
• When we get married, I‘ll have known Sheryl for six years.
• They will have visited several places in Bandung by next week.

Kalimat negatif (-)

Subject + will + NOT + have + past participle (verb 3) + (object) Verb: to write
I will not have written
You will not have written
We will not have written
They will not have written
He/She/It will not have written

Catatan: Will not bisa disingkat menjadi won’t, sehingga: I will not have written menjadi I won’t have written.

Contoh kalimat negatif:

• When I meet you, I won’t have finished writing.
• By Monday, they will not have completed the task.
• I will not have finished my homework by 8 o’clock.
• My father will not have decided to go before I come.
• She will not have bought a new phone before she gets a job.

Kalimat tanya (?)

Will + subject + have + past participle (verb 3)? Verb: to write
Will I have written?
Will you have written?
Will we have written?
Will they have written?
Will he/she/it have written?

Contoh Kalimat tanya:

• Will we have done our tasks by tomorrow morning?
• Will you have finished studying by 10 o’clock?
• How long will you have known Sheryl?
